Hey everyone!

Alex E Kheyson here, and I want to welcome you to the Heart & Mind of a Leader podcast, wish you the best of luck and determination on your exciting and often challenging personal development and professional growth journey.

Can I ask you for a big favor? Some of the key questions and points that I cover in this episode are:

  • New Year's Resolutions - what do they mean to you and those around you? Are you typically wait until the last minute, until Dec.31st to set your goals, objectives, habits that you would like to form or get rid of, or are you working towards accomplishing your goals throughout the year?
  • Why so many people wait until the end of the year to create and set their goals for the following year instead of setting, changing, updating, and working towards their goals and objectives during the year? Why procrastinate? Could this be the reason why so many of us give up on our goals shortly after the beginning of the new year, because, we do not have needed focus and determination to stick to what we want to accomplish?
  • Change - what does change means to you, and how do you interpret and see the concept of change? Are you viewing change as a positive or a negative part of our life?
  • Are you someone who is always open and welcome change, or you do everything you can to avoid change and pretend that change had never took place? Whether you like it or not but change is always present in our life, and the sooner we can recognize it, the easier it would be for us to actually face and deal with change.
  • If we look at change from a big picture perspective and try to understand what are the driving factors behind the particular change, in most cases we would realize that change is an opportunity for us to reset and re-focus while focusing on our future

What are some of the potential negative outcomes if and when we do not look at each situation from a big picture perspective, considering all options and alternatives vs. immediately focusing on the negativity and difficulty in a situation at hand?
  • It's not as bad as it may seem, it's all about how we look at each obstacle that we face in our lives. Things can be good if we focus on finding good even at times when things may be difficult. Some of the key questions and points that I cover in this episode are:

  • Process and speed with which we create excuses and not following through on our commitments, promises and goals is a rocky road filled with excuses and false promises to ourselves and others - why are we doing that to ourselves every day, every year?
  • What are some of the key drivers behind our decisions to give up and stop focusing on what we were working towards and wanted to achieve?
  • Are we expecting results too soon, living in the state of immediate gratification, or we are we simply not fully committed to go after our goals?
  • What does it take to establish new habits or to overwrite an existing ones? New habits do not get established overnight, it takes time, sometimes a lot of time, patience, dedication and commitment. Do we really want to create new habits and improve our present and future or we are we just saying that we do because it sounds good to us and others?
  • New Years Resolution goals are simply and illusion that many of us create every year just to knowingly create false perception of goal-setting and commitment and to feel good about ourselves, at least for a short period of time. Why not set and stick to our commitments every day of the year? Why not stop making false promises and lie to ourselves when setting new goals?

  • What does 'planting the right seed' means when it comes to personal development, foundation establishment, goal setting, self-education, and investment in personal growth?
  • Leaning on the strong foundation that you build when faced with challenges and difficulties throughout life. Why is having strong foundation important and how it can be used in building the lifestyle, business, or our career?

  • Hiding behind 'New Years Resolution' in order to procrastinate and avoid taking any action to create change, or to keep driving towards our wants and needs. • Nobody knows about your internal fears and roadblock other than you - so, why fear what other people may think of you or your actions?
  • Instead of thinking of and focusing on what could go wrong, why not think about what could go right and change our present and future for a better?
